Tokyo was chosen as the host for the 2020 Olympics. Mr. Kazutaka Taniguchi of Heiwa Paper Co. Ltd produced a unique and new color paper on this occasion. He wod ke to express 5 tonal gradations of the 5 colored rings from the Olympic emblem using paper color. He tried the color test by the prototype. The best color was ‘Black’ I saw potential in the Grayscale he said. He pursued interests in the Grayscale expression. After 6 months of development he announced the launch of Tone F in 2017. Tone F is a series of papers covering 14 shades of gray ranging from cool gray to warm gray.
In 2019 4 shades were added.
